why on earth would you sit with your knees next to the steering column? I drove a Camaro before and my knee was no where near it (I'm 6'2" btw).

Funny, I actually just forwarded that Jalopnik article to my coworker who owns one.
He told me it's already happened to him! He is also about 6'2 and said his knee knocked it off one time while he was pulling out of a parking space.

I've always adopted a sitting position with knees somewhat raised. Also 6'2". People have different configurations they find comfortable, and I've bumped the fob in one that belongs to a friend. Not hard enough to turn off, but still - not everybody drives with the seat all the way back to leg length.

That's probably it, I sat almost stretched with a slight bend. I feel I can move my feet better that way.

My knees/legs are stronger, and my ankles more free, when I'm not at full extension. I don't have the same dexterity with the toe that I have with the full ankle. Different people are different.
